Who Are We?
Paws for Thought is a Hong Kong-based veterinary behaviour practice dedicated to enhancing the lives of pets and their owners.
We offer a specialised approach to veterinary care, focusing exclusively on addressing behavioural issues in pets. Unlike traditional veterinary practices, our services are tailored to meet the specific needs of animals struggling with anxiety, fear, or other emotional challenges.
About Me: Dr. Isabella Luk
BVSc, MRCVS, MSc (Clinical Animal Behaviour)
As a qualified veterinarian with degrees from Sydney University and a Master’s in Clinical Animal Behaviour from the University of Edinburgh, I've dedicated my career to understanding and addressing animals' emotional and mental well-being.
My approach is rooted in evidence-based techniques, tailored behaviour modification training, and a deep understanding of environmental factors. I work closely with pet owners to diagnose underlying causes of behavioural issues and develop personalised strategies for improvement.
Having first-hand experience owning a special needs dog who suffers from dog reactivity and generalised anxiety, I understand the challenges pet owners face when seeking help for behavioural issues. Even as a qualified veterinarian, I found myself navigating a relatively new field with limited resources. To deepen my understanding, I pursued a master's degree in animal behaviour.
Hong Kong's unique urban environment, with its high-rise buildings and bustling lifestyle, can present challenges for managing pet behaviour. I have firsthand experienced the difficulties of avoiding triggers, creating safe spaces within limited physical constraints, and ensuring adequate opportunities for pets to exhibit natural behaviours in such a setting.
Driven by my own experiences and enhanced knowledge, I'm committed to making a positive impact on the lives of pets and their owners in Hong Kong. Let's work together to make your pet the happiest version of themselves!
As a dedicated professional committed to providing the highest quality care for animal behaviour issues, I'm also proud to be an Associate Member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC). This membership signifies my commitment to ongoing learning, professional development, and adherence to ethical standards in the field of animal behaviour.
The role of a Clinical Animal Behaviourist is helping the owners of companion animals resolve behavioural problems through diagnosis of the problem behaviour and application of individual behaviour modification programmes.
NOTE: Associate members have demonstrated that they have the appropriate level of Knowledge and Understanding for the professional role of Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CAB). They are now gaining the practical experience necessary to be assessed as a CAB and therefore become a Full member of the APBC. The APBC supports its Associate members undertaking behaviour consultations.
My status as an Elite Fear Free Certified Professional, I am committed to providing a stress-free and positive experience for your pet during every visit. Fear Free certification ensures that I have the knowledge and skills to create a calm and welcoming environment, minimizing anxiety and fear for animals.
By choosing Paws for Thought, you can rest assured that your pet will receive compassionate care in a safe and supportive setting.

Dr. Eilidh Grassick
BVSc, MRCVS, BSc (Animal Behaviour and Welfare)
Studying Animal Behaviour and Welfare at Bristol University provided insight into how closely emotional and mental wellbeing are linked to physical health in animals. This inspired my pursuit of veterinary studies at the University of Edinburgh, allowing me to integrate behaviour knowledge with medical care to support your pet’s overall wellbeing.
I have a special interest in helping senior pets with behavioural issues, especially those related to chronic pain and age-related changes. Having cared for a senior cat with arthritis, I understand how tricky it can be to notice subtle behavioural shifts and figure out what’s causing them.
I also offer advice for behavioural problems in small furries such as rabbits, hamsters, and guinea pigs. I approach each case with an open mind and a focus on understanding the emotional motivations behind your pet’s behaviour. Using evidence-based methods, I develop tailored behaviour modification plans to improve your pet’s quality of life.
My aim is to work with you to better understand your pet’s behaviour and develop gentle, effective solutions. I believe every pet deserves to feel safe, happy, and confident. I look forward to working together to help your furry friend thrive!
Nurse Jane
Bachelor of Animal Science and Management
My life has always revolved around animals. Growing up, I probably shared my home with almost every species you could think of! This lifelong passion led me to the University of Melbourne, where I completed my Bachelor of Animal Science and Management, followed by instructor and practical training with Dog Trainers Australia.
Since I began nursing, I have worked across a variety of settings, from clinics to shelters to home care. These experiences taught me a vital lesson: stress and anxiety significantly impact an animal’s behaviour, and there is always a better way to provide care that prioritizes their emotional comfort. This realization is what eventually led me to the team here at PFT.
I am currently completing my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and have developed a special interest in avian behavioural health. As an active bird rescuer, I’ve often joked that "birds chose me," and I love helping owners understand the complex needs of our feathered friends.
I also feel a strong calling toward pet bereavement support, specifically in helping pets navigate the loss of their animal siblings. I understand how profound these bonds are, and I am dedicated to helping surviving pets and their families through the unique behavioural and emotional challenges of that journey.
My goal is to ensure every patient feels heard and supported during their visit. I look forward to meeting you and your companions, whether they have fur, feathers, or anything in between!

As the first "child" of the house, he's mastered the art of ruling the roost. His most important duty? Ensuring that everyone is fed at the right time. Loki's punctuality is legendary, and his demanding meow serves as a reliable reminder for our human and canine colleagues to grab their lunch. Thanks to Loki, no one ever misses a meal, and the office runs smoothly.
